Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor has called the recurrence of violence and insecurity in the Southeast unfortunate. He said the issue could be resolved via dialogue that would bring peace and calm back to the region.
A committee should be established to interact with those who feel they have been wronged, according to him. He believes that the situation cannot be resolved through political means, but rather through the pacification of the people of the Southeast.
In an interactive session with media held on Wednesday at the National Assembly, the former Governor of Abia State stressed that President Muhammadu Buhari, as the nation’ s father, should look into the problems of the people of the Southeast with passion.
” My position has always been that Buhari is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that he is a father. I have never questioned that. As a father, the President should have a strong emotional attachment to the region of the Southeast.
” There is nothing particularly noteworthy about those who are not listened to. Nigeria’ s president, Muhammadu Buhari, is a Muslim. The situation cannot be remedied through political means, and the governors of the southeast should go above and beyond their responsibilities. Not only was I a senator, but I was also a governor. Governors should engage in more direct communication with the public, as the work of the President is not solely their responsibility” , he said.
Governors, according to Kalu, should not shirk their responsibilities to guarantee peace, but should instead demonstrate their commitment by delegating security concerns to President Buhari.
His view was that both good and bad children could exist anywhere, but that how they were handled determined whether or not the nation was united. He believed that the nation needed unity more than anything else at this time.
” Because the President is the father of the nation, our governors should do more. They might have a few good children and a few undesirable offspring. The realm of a King may contain a diverse range of individuals, and I would like the President to devote considerable time and energy to that endeavor.
” Allow him to reflect on his role as a father of the nation and consider how he may set up a tiny Committee to calm the area because this country requires unity more than anything else that we have ever experienced.
” Those who intend to run for the House of Assembly election, the Senate election, and the Presidential election will fail if they do not come together as a united front. In that case, the president should act like a father and the people of the Southeast should work together to resolve this issue” , Orji Kalu stated.
